More maths graduates needed in teaching - in the media

CaMS's recent research findings showing the scale of the maths teacher shortage have featured in an article written by Jack Rankin MP for The House magazine, a publication widely read by parliamentarians.

A maths and physics graduate himself, Rankin points to CaMS's forecasts which indicate that the current shortfall in maths teachers experienced in England is set to worsen, as stubbornly low recruitment rates fail to meet the ever-increasing popularity of maths in secondary schools.

With more maths departments shuttering or scaling back their provision of maths courses, a valuable route into a rewarding career in teaching is made ever narrower. CaMS launched our Maths Degrees for the Future programme to help tackle the issues Rankin raises in his article. Read the full article here.
