Full strategy needed to unlock the UK's maths potential - in the media

Following government cuts to the Advanced Maths Support Programme (AMSP), XTX Markets have agreed to plug some of the funding to ensure the continuation of the Programme in the coming months. 

 

XTX Markets' Head of Philanthropy Simon Coyle has written for Schools Week to point out the contradiction in the government's ambitions for leading in technologies in AI whilst at the same time withdrawing funds for such a vital initiative as AMSP.

 

As he goes on to argue, without a clear commitment and multi-pronged strategy to support school leavers into studying maths at university level, the government's hope of achieving world-leading maths outcome by the close of the decade remains in doubt.
